According to some sources considered close to Mohammed Ali, the former world heavy weight boxer is supposedly very ill.  Some reports coming out of London suggest that Ali was on his death bed and clinging to life. Family and friends disputed those reports and called them baseless. May May his daughter issued a statement and denied those “rumors” and stated that her dad was okay and had watched the Super bowl the night before. Mohammed Ali beat Liston and Patterson to gain the world heavy weight championship in boxing that he lost for refusing to serve and fight in the military. He had accepted Islam after winning the title and had renounced violence against other people. Ali claimed that his religion, Islam, teaches that as a Moslem, one should not take up arms against other people, specially those who have done nothing to hurt you or harm you and he always said that the Vietnamese people were the victims of a war of which the only gainers were the U.S. arms manufacturers and their greedy owners. The media started a major campaign against him for his defiance against the war and ultimately he paid a heavy price. He was stripped of his title by the American Boxing Association for not fighting wars against the “Communist”. Ali is 71 years old and is often seen in his home town of St Louis mock boxing with young kids and cheering them up.
