It has been revealed that the U.S. Justice Department has approved a secret memo in which it has given President Obama full authority to kill any American whom he suspects of working for terrorists. These things were disclosed by NBC who is said to have gotten hold of a “memo” or a white paper which gives green light to killing American citizens if the U.S. administration decided that a certain individual is sitting overseas and opposes the government and is planning to use some sort of violence against the government or its employees, especially if that person could be designated as a senior leader of that organization. The person to be executed does not have to commit any “terrorist” act, but it will be sufficient if some bureaucrat decides that the potential is there for such an act.The memo goes on and concludes that assassinations of American citizens are legal if the US government says they are “senior operational leaders” or members of al-Qaeda or “an associated force”, meaning that they are associated with the people that the government considers enemies of American occupation of other countries and willing to stand up and register their opposition. Such designations by senior officials can remain confidential and the reasons for the execution of an individual does not have to be justified or revealed to any one except the close circle who will pick their targets and send the “flying Death Squads” or the drones to kill them.Majority of these strikes are taking place in Pakistan and Yemen. Their militaries are involved with the U.S. in facilitating these operations which kill mostly their own citizens.Pakistani generals and the military has a reputation for being extremely corrupt and are said to ask for generous allowance for their generals over each hit.These controversies have been brought to light since the killing of Mr. Awlaki and his sixteen years old son, who was killed a week later on personal orders of Mr. Obama.The Democratic Party is surprisingly quiet on this and the Republicans are expected to be quiet any way. Civil and human rights leaders who had put so much faith in Obama are looking the other way. Even black leaders who usually are so vocal in opposing wars, as they benefit the large white owned corporations, are mum about this as well. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton seem to have become big supporters of this war and the use of flying death squads not because they are somehow in favor of this, but rather they do not want to criticize the first black president in the American history. Eli Wiesel who is recipient of the Nobel Peace prize and does usually speak up specially when the Israeli Jews are attacked and killed has also said nothing. Amnesty international has come out against it and warned the Americans and has asked them to stand up and not to wait for the day, when they too could become a target as well for opposing their government or its wars.
