Iranian President Mahmud Ahmedinejad landed in Egypt on his first visit by an Iranian head of State in thirty five years. Their relations had been fractured under Hosni Mubarak the previous Egyptian dictator who was overthrown in a movement sprung and known as Arab spring. After the election which brought to power the head of the Moslem Brotherhood in Egypt Mr. Morsi,, the mutual relations between both countries had been slowly warming. Iran had been touting the election of Morsi as vindication of their own religiously inspired government, which emphasizes the strict adherence of religion into every facet of their daily lives. Morsi greeted Ahmedinejad warmly at the Cairo's military airport and both men kissed in the traditional Arab hug. Both promised to improve their relations and encourage trade and political ties amongst them.Ahmedihejad also took time off to meet the head of the Al Azhar University and its head Mr. Al Tayeb, and both men shook hands very warmly and smiled for the camera's. It is said that Al Tayeb told the Iranian President politely to use his influence in Syria to stop the bloodshed of Moslems in that country. Al Tayeb is also said to have warned Iran not to get involved in the Bahraini politics, where the minority Royal family rules the majority 70 percent of their Shia population. Despite the niceties of their meeting, it is becoming more and more apparent that the local and regional rivalries between the two major sects of Islam, Shia and Sunni is causing a lot of friction between the Countries, with each major power picking and supporting their kin. It is said that Saudis are creating a lot of turmoil by supporting the Sunni groups inside Iraq, primarily to destabilize that government and Iran is said to be bank rolling the Shai opposition in Bahrain. Syrian civil war was also a topic of discussion between Ahmedinejad and President Morsi, and both have said to try their utmost to end the civil war in that country.
